HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO START LESSONS?
You can start on your 17th birthday. If you receive higher level disability allowance you can start driving once you are 16 years old.
DO I HAVE TO PASS THE THEORY TEST BEFORE STARTING LESSONS?
No, once you are 17 and have your provisional licence you can start lessons. Learning the theory whilst taking practical driving lessons is common, as your driving experience may help you understand the theory questions better.
HOW CAN YOU HELP ME PASS THE THEORY TEST?
We provide free access to an online e-book, and a complete set of Case Studies to help assess where your knowledge is above or below standard. We can help you with any particular questions that you are struggling with, but ultimately there is no substitute for spending time at home learning all the rules of the road.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING ON MY FIRST LESSON?
You need to bring along your provisional driving licence, and glasses if you need them to read a standard car registration plate from 20.5 metres. We accept payment by debit or credit card, cash or bank transfer please.

The DVSA state that the average learner takes 47 hours of professional tuition along with 20 hours of private practice to pass their test. However in our experience most learners are at test standard after approximately 30 - 40 hours of tuition.
SHOULD I PRACTICE DRIVING WITH MY PARENTS?
It is not essential, but it can be useful if you are able to practice driving with your parents or another experienced driver. Their car will not have dual controls fitted though, so we would recommend mastering the basic skills in our cars first.
DO YOU OFFER INTENSIVE COURSES?
We offer flexible intensive courses that can be arranged over a period to suit you. This can be from a 2 week course up to a more relaxed 4 week course. Just let us know your requirements and we can take it from there.
I ALREADY HAVE SOME DRIVING EXPERIENCE - WHAT NOW?
We would recommend booking an assessment lesson, so you can show us what you can do, as well as allowing us to see where we can help you. At the end of the assessment we will be able to advise you how many further lessons you will need to get to test standard.
CAN I BE PICKED UP FROM WORK OR COLLEGE?
We can meet you at any address in the Bury St Edmunds and surrounding villages area - many students combine a driving lesson with getting to or from work / college.
HOW DO I BOOK MY THEORY AND PRACTICAL DRIVING TESTS?
You must pass the Theory Test first - book with the DVSA directly, either online or by calling 0300 2001122. Once you have passed the Theory Test you can book your Practical Driving Test, again using the DVSA directly. Do not be tempted to book via another company as they will usually charge you more, and their 'Pass Guarantees' are usually worthless.
WHAT CAR DO I USE FOR MY DRIVING TEST?
Most students use our cars for their driving test, as they are easy to drive and the car they are most used to. However, if you prefer you can use your own car if it is suitable and has the necessary L plates, headrest and extra mirror for the examiner.
DO YOU OFFER ‘GUARANTEED PASS’ COURSES?
The driving test is designed to assess if you can drive safely in a range of road and traffic conditions. Since you are actually driving the car, nobody else can guarantee 100% that you will pass first time - that would be impossible.
DO YOU OFFER AUTOMATIC LESSONS?
Yes - we use manual and automatic tuition cars. If you would like to learn in an automatic car please contact us on 07488 332733 and we will put you in touch with one of our automatic instructors.
I HAVE A FOREIGN LICENCE - HOW DO I GET A UK LICENCE?
If your current driving licence was issued by a country in the European Union or from certain designated countries it can be exchanged for a UK licence without the need for a test. A licence from any other country allows you to drive in the UK for up to 1 year from the date your residency starts in the UK. You will need to pass both Theory and Practical Driving Tests within this year if you wish to continue driving after the initial year.
